Peru Report from Bill - June 19

Hi Saints!

Just a quick note before we hit the streets today.

We visited two orphanages, a school (with 1950 students on two shifts), a park, and two markets yesterday to present the Gospel - and God came to reveal His love and forgiveness to His people as many people responded to God's call!

The orphanages were also very special places, where young abandoned girls find shelter. The orphanage in Callao was particular heart-wrenching, and you will hear more about this later.

And more good news, everyone is well again! God has strengthened those who had been sick and we are back to a complete team again.

Today, we have 3 or 4 sites to present the Gospel in drama and preaching, then tonight is the 2nd night of the Marriage Conference.

We can hardly wait to start telling the stories God is giving us. Thanks for your prayers!

We love you!

Bill

Peru Report from Bill

Hi Saints,

Today is Thursday, and I am emailing from the church sanctuary just as the Marriage Conference is about to begin. In Peru the event start times are really just suggestions - and the worship leader just arrived at 8:00 PM for the meeting which was to start at 7:30! The crowd is beginning to drift in as well. While several of us are here, the rest of the team is upstairs ready to provide childcare and ministry to all children who come tonight.

It appears that today we were really assaulted by sickness and fever. Cassie, Cristina, Sarah K, Michelle, and Emma missed ministry opportunities, and several others were a bit weakened by sore throats and coughs. After a quick walk-through we were able to continue with our drama Toy Maker and Son, and all six back-ups really did well.

After a visit to Pat's Place and hearing an update of the ministry there to abused women and their children, the team split to support a second medical mission and to give two street drama presentations. The first was at a Market and the Lord opened the hearts of 20 people to the Gospel. There was in particular one young man age 15, and one young woman in here early twenties that came and received Christ. The next site was a high school, where we were welcomed by 500 teenagers. Stephanie gave her testimony and Dylan and Jordan presented the Gospel!

This morning we also sent three men to help paint at Martin's house - they got a good start but their is still more to go. It's a race to see if it can be finished by this Saturday when we are planning to have a house dedication service. Martin and Shayla and several others have been such a blessing to us in helping translate questions, answers, prayers, and every other type of communication required.

OK, the conference has begun! I need to go!

God Bless!

Bill

Halfway Point

Tonight the team enjoyed shopping, dinner at Pizza Hut, and views of the Pacific Ocean! They were in the "touristy" part of town where there's...

A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chickcn, and a Pizza Hut
A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chickcn, and a Pizza Hut
McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chickcn, and a Pizza Hut

But seriously, I talked to my parents tonight, and both of them are excited about what God is doing this week. They have lots of stories to tell already! God is working in the hearts of the Peruvians and also in the hearts of the CrossWave team members. In particular, the staff have noticed that team unity is strong; they all get along very well. And team members have been stepping out in servanthood for each other, the church, and the people of Peru.

Thank you all for praying!

Email from Bill

Hello Saints!

Grace and peace to you! Our God is faithful, and has poured out many blessings upon the people of Peru, encouraging them, letting them know that He sees them and knows their every need. Sunday after the 14 morning services, we ministered in the streets, followed by a Q&A session with 200 people on parenting! It was amazing! And overwhelming! We have collected a hundred or more written questions about raising a family, resolving conflict, and dealing with issues. It was very fruitful,

That event was immediately followed by the Sunday Youth Conference where 400 people worshiped were encouraged by testimonies and teaching on family forgiveness and the essential need for the family to be built upon God's principles. It was really something.

Thank you for your prayers! Several of the team have felt a little sick, and Sarah M did miss one morning of ministry. Please pray for Susan, Julia, David, Stephanie, Wayne, Brandon, and Caleb D (who came to see us!) to be fully recovered from slight illness.

Today is our day to explore.

We love you!

Bill

Peru Update from Bill

Hi Saints!

I found an internet connection! We have just concluded the second night of the Youth Conference and I believe our prayers have been answered by our Lord. A tremendous time of fellowship and rejoicing followed by several testimonies of God's faithfulness to heal broken families. God is stirring, yet there is so much more to be done - and we are bring home 100 or more prayer cards from the people here requesting God's provision. We had nine team members preaching at 14 services this morning, an afternoon drama presentation at which we witnessed God change hearts as people responded to the Gospel.

more to come - May God bless you!

Love in Christ!

General Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests - from Bill

Here is a quick summary of the desires of the team that they wrote on their applications. In some way, these are their truest prayer requests beyond the normal health and safety type concerns. Here they are:

1. I want to serve God any way I can.
2. I want to lead at least one person to Christ.
3. I want to experience God when He does marvelous things.

And I know it sounds strange, but I would add that I am praying for a "FLAWED" team (I'm going to share this with the team once we arrive in Peru):

F - Faithful to God's call and commands
L - Loving to the church but also to undeserved sinners, just like He is
A - Available to go the last 15 feet in order to share the Gospel and Love of Christ with someone God wants to touch
W - Not only available, but WILLING and WANTING to go the last 15 feet to share the Gospel and Love of Christ with someone God wants to touch!
E - Enjoying the company of the redeemed (not only our team, but the believers we fellowship with in the church in Peru)
D - Delighted in God, His Plan, His Word, His Calling, and His Glory

Thanks for standing in the gap for us and for calling your entire church to join with you!

A Message from Bill

Today we have had time with God in His word and in worship, practiced our drama, sorted supplies and donations (over a ton's worth - 2400 lbs) and are breaking for lunch.

God bless you!

Video of San Juan de Lurigancho

A message from Julie:

Hi family and friends, I thought you might want to see some video of San Juan de Lurigancho, the area of Lima where we will be serving the Lord. When we first went there, the streets were a mess and there was no grass in the medians, only fire at night to burn the trash dumped there. If you go one street over in either direction, there are dirt streets and shacks.
