Peru Trip by the Numbers

A message from Bill:

Some folks asked me for some ministry stats from our trip. We did not try to record this data during the ministry, but here are some conservative estimates of what happened through your labor of love during the ten days we were on the ground in Peru:
  • About 5000 people heard the gospel message of Christ’s offer of salvation and other key truths from the word of God concerning Integrity in Christ, the Marriage Covenant, and encouragement to women.
  • Almost 400 prayed to receive Christ as Savior and Lord of their life
  • Over 1500 people received prayers for their personal needs and concerns
  • Several hundred believers in four churches were greatly encouraged by your sacrifice of self and love for Jesus!

These things were accomplished by the Lord’s strength, and your service to the people of Peru via:

  • 3 Women’s Conferences
  • 3 Marriage Conferences
  • 2 Youth Conferences
  • 2 Medical Clinics
  • 8 Sports Clinics
  • 32 SpellBound Drama presentations
  • 8 Sunday Worship service messages
  • 2 prayer walks
  • And countless smiles, hugs, pictures, conversations!

And we give thanks to our fantastic Peru staff who were instrumental in all that happened:
  • 10 cooks and custodians
  • 15 translators
  • 4 bus drivers
  • 5 project managers
  • 7 pastors and wives
  • 3 medical professionals
  • 2 hotel staff
  • None of this could have happened without them!

Thank you again, for your strong commitment to the team, your fantastic attitudes early and late and through out each day, your willingness to step up and out of your comfort zones, your joy and laughter in every situation, and your love for Christ and the people of Tablada, Pamplona, Villa Maria, Pachacutec, Good Shepherd Orphanage, and San Juan de Lurigancho. I believe God answered all of our prayers!

May Jesus be praised and may our lives shine brightly for Him!

Hello from Peru!

Hello from Peru!

Praise God we are alive with all the blessings of Christ!

I know our communication has been limited, but the work of God's Holy Spirit and Holy Word has not been limited at all!

It seems that each day brings something new and unexpected. He is sustaining us with words of encouragement and examples of love. He is opening hearts and transforming minds. He is birthing new things and delivering us from fear. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Thank you so much for your prayers for us!

We love you! We will see you tomorrow!

Prayer and Praise Report - a message from the team

    Hi Prayer Team,

Supported by God's grace and strength, greetings and blessings from the Southern Hemisphere! And
    Happy Father's Day!
We are so blessed; God is moving and showing Himself strong and mighty! Our team has really entered into the harvest fields to beckon and call people to a living relationship with Christ. Young and old men, young and old women, each realizing, that apart from Christ Jesus, they have no hope, no future, no life. People are responding to the Gospel! He has truly blessed us with the opportunity to share His love and truth with people here, despite difficulty and trials. Praise His holy name!

Other than some fatigue (ha!) and a little sickness, (please pray for Stephen T) everyone is well and thrilled to be in the Lord's service. We do need a few more blankets at night (which we will get today), but God has warmed our hearts by His love and compassion for people here. We have seen Him save, encourage, and feed His people by the word of God and from our daily provision of food.

    Some comments from the team:
    • Everyone here says hey to everyone there!
    • God is good!
    • Praise the Lord that all our luggage made it (all 3000 pounds of supplies to give away)!
    • The food is great (but they told me not to tell you about the fresh-squeezed tangerine juice we have each morning)
    • Please pray for Mary Anne from Indiana to get her Visa and join us as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued prayers for us. Please pray that we remain willing and delighted in the work of believing God. Pray for tonight's Youth Conference in Tablada (last night was in Villa Maria).

    We love you all!

    Gloria a Dios!

Street Drama – Spellbound: Toymaker & Son

The drama Toymaker & Son was first presented by a group of students in England in 1978 (see Toymaker & Son history). A few years later, it was adapted for YWAM street ministry (see The Masterpiece – an adaptation of Toymaker & Son).

    Here's an article
about the original Toymaker & Son drama, from the Schenectady Gazette in New York, printed June 27, 1987.

The CrossWave team performs Spellbound on the streets of Lima, Peru to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that is spiritually meaningful and easy to understand. Everyone on the team is involved in the 20 minute drama, which is narrated in Spanish. The colorful costumes, make-up, and props help to vividly portray the message of the Gospel to all ages!

Last summer in Lima, the team performed Spellbound several times a day. A large group of children at a local school got to hear the Good News at one of those performances:

Thanks to Bill for providing the picture from the 2009 trip.

Hi from Lima! We made it to Peru!

Hi from Lima! We made it to Peru!

Everyone arrived before midnight, and once we made it through immigration and customs, met our hosts, loaded the buses and went the hotel. We got there, unloaded and mostly
into our rooms by 2:30 AM (CDT).

This morning we've gathered at our host church in Villa Maria, studied God's word and worshiped together, and practiced the drama extensively. We've just prayed through our week's plans asking the Lord for strength to accomplish his Will with joy in our hearts and glory on our faces. We have also met the full support team here, three pastors and their wives, 10 translators, and 10 hospitality/kitchen servants who will prepare meals and care for our physical needs. May God be praised for raising up such a groups of saints to bless and encourage us. May we do no less to serve Jesus and all His people here.

Thank you for praying for us - we realize that we cannot do this in our own strength but need to completely rely and count on God to bring about His plans.

Love to you from Lima, Peru!

    Departure for Peru this Thursday

The team will depart for Peru this Thursday, June 17 and return on Monday, June 28, and they appreciate your prayers while they are gone.

The Peruvian culture struggles with poverty, abuse within families, drug problems, high unemployment, loneliness and other problems you would see in developing nations. Pray for the team to have God's love for the people as they present the Gospel message through interpreters, and that the people would understand what Jesus has done for them and receive God's love and hope for their lives. Pray also for the team's safety, strength and boldness as they serve with God's love.

The team will be in a different part of Lima, Peru where they have never been before, serving through local churches there. They will be having 3 simultaneous marriage conferences,  2 simultaneous women's conferences,  a 2 night youth conference, simultaneous volleyball clinics and soccer clinics, helping with a medical clinic, preaching in area churches, visits to orphanages, work on construction projects, plus performing the Toy Maker drama with the Gospel message on the streets daily.

Check here for frequent updates from the team over the next few weeks.

Let’s give God thanks for the terrific drama rehearsal weekend He gave to us in Teays Valley! He blessed us with the powerful presence of His Spirit of love that we so desperately need! Drama Practice Weekend in West Virginia

This Memorial Day weekend, the Peru team will travel from Indiana and North Carolina to meet up in West Virginia for several days of planning. Their objectives for the weekend are:

    1. Make every effort to glorify Jesus in all they think, say, and do, and give Him thanks
    2. Learn the SpellBound drama really well
    3. Appreciate and thank the church in West Virginia for their generous hospitality
    4. Yield themselves to Christ for rich personal revival in heart, mind, soul, and body
    5. Get to know and to love and to serve each other, deeply, from the heart
    6. Prepare their minds and spirits as much as they can for the ministry in Lima, Peru
In addition to getting in a lot of drama practice, the team will be preparing their personal testimonies and practicing presenting the gospel in a concise and simple way.

This weekend will also be a time for planning the many
conferences, outreaches, clinics, Sunday sermons, and more that will take place in Peru. The team will need many speakers for all these events.

23 days until departure for Peru!
