Thank you-CrossWave Peru 2013

Hello everyone,

First, let me tell you all how appreciative I am of everyone who has either called me, told me in person, Facebook me, and so forth, thanking me for the Peru updates. It was a privilege and I absolutely enjoyed doing it. Again, thank you for the opportunity to provide you all with such amazing updates and just to read about what God had done in the lives of the team and also those lives that were touched in Peru.

Second, I want to thank Bill King for the consistent communication, as the team moved from one location to another, or from one event to the next. I could have not provided such detailed updates without his great communication skills. Thank you. I wanted to go to Peru so badly this year (just as any other year), but I knew that God had a plan and I just needed to listen and obey. After Jana Jenkins, our beloved Crosswave administrator, passed away, God reassured me that there is always a reason for everything. I am glad that we stayed as a family to confront such hard times for us and Crosswave. God needed us this summer in Raleigh.

Lastly, this group will remain open and the posts will probably slow down, but I do hope that you come back and visit it as much as possible just to get a reminder of what a wonderful trip the CrossWave team took on the summer of 2013. Read about the miracles that God did in the lives of many Peruvians and all of our temmates. Who knows what’s ahead for Christina Short Salinas, Carleigh, and I, but I am excited and looking forward to next year. Hey! I might have the opportunity to provide these updates live from Peru! Only God knows.

Until next time!

Pomacochas-Chachapoyas-Update! Thursday and Friday events

Good morning everyone,

Here is a quick update from Bill King on the team from Thursday's and Friday's events:

Thursday:
"Many battles in the last two days, but God gives us strength to press on! There was a gospel presentation to 600 elementary school kids, then we gave them each a gift in their classroom. This all happened after being rebuffed by the school admin about our coming at all.

After some team/God time, and packing, we held the third evening conference, shared two dramas and witnessed God touching His people.

Friday:

Today, we left the hotel at 5:30 a.m. (Peru time) to visit Kuelap, the ancient fortress of the Cloud people. It is awesome! Then another test, a 4 hour road delay which completely changed our Chachapoyas schedule. When we finally reached the town, we rushed to the school, changed into costume, and shared the dram and prayed a blessing over the school. So many new stories to share!!! Now on the bus for the 22 hour return to Lima. Please pray for a strong finish!"

Well, there you have it. Let's keep praying for the team!

Thank you all

Quick agenda for today Friday, June 21, 2013.

Good morning everyone,

Today the team will pack up all their suitcases and head out for breakfast, devotions, and a joint praise meeting at the church. After breakfast, they will go ahead and get on a bus to a city nearby called Chachapoyas. At this point, they have already said their good byes to the people of Pomacochas, plus they have already checked out from their hotel.

As they arrive in Chachapoyas, they will travel to the fortress of Kuelap to learn about some Peruvian history (see link below for more info on Kuelap).

In the afternoon and have dinner there, before helping with the conference, where they will do Spellbound. This is a new city that they have now been given the opportunity to go ahead and minister and help the Lima team. After the conference is over, they will go ahead and change clothes and get on the bus to start their journey back to Lima.

Well, today is a big day of traveling. Let's pray for comfort and safety as they go to Chachapoyas and then off to Lima, before heading home on Sunday night. God is so good and we know that He has great plans for them while they stop by Chachapoyas.

Thank you all.

Quick agenda for today Thursday, June 20, 2013.

Good morning everyone,

Countdown: 4 days left until their arrival back home!

Today the team will depart again wearing their costumes from the hotel and head off to the church for breakfast, devotions, and a joint praise meeting. Then, they will travel to a school and do some drama ministry there. They will also try to interact with the students and just share the love of Jesus with them. They will have lunch at this site.

After lunch, they plan on attending a baptism, which is likely to happen right by the lake. They will also head back to the town square for more drama ministry and hope to reach out to more people that are ready to hear about Jesus. Afterwards, they will return to the hotel, freshen up, an then head out for dinner at the church and then take part of the conference in the evening. Clever, from the Lima team, will be speaking tonight. They will all return to the hotel to get some rest and get ready for Friday, as they will travel to another city (Chachapoyas) close to Pomacochas before returning to Lima.

Let's keep praying for the team, as they only have two more days left in Pomacochas and the surrounding area. Jesus is shining and I am happy to report that everyone is doing well and they are all excited to see what God has done so far!

Thank you all

Update from Pomacochas! Wednesday's events

Good morning everyone,

Here is a quick update from Bill King on the team from Wednesday's events:

"This morning we visited the middle/high school (7th to 11th grades) with 450 students. We presented the drama and the gospel and prayed with the students as a group. We then gave them each one the six color bracelets we use to remember what God has done. Six of our girls had an impromptu soccer match with a PE class, and they played hard!

After lunch, we went to the main square and shared Spellbound. 20 people prayed to confess Christ. Jorge and Charro were there too. Then we traveled to the Hummingbird Conservatory to look for the Marvelous Spateultail (bird-see picture), and everyone saw one. They are beautiful!

After dinner, we held the second Joy of Faith Conference with people continuing to come throughout the message. God stirred up new faith in many, many people such that Pastor Roberto's eyes filled with tears. God is building His kingdom. Thank you for praying."

Well, there you have it! Great news! God is working full-time always! Let's keep praying for the team as they have a busy Thursday ahead!

Thank you all.

Quick agenda for today Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

Good afternoon everyone,

First, let me apologize for the delay on this post. I traveled to Charlotte, NC for work this morning and just got back a few minutes ago. Again, my apologies on that, but let's go ahead and get to it!

Today the team departed from the hotel this morning already wearing their costumes and headed out to the church for breakfast, devotions, and team meetings. Afterwards, they went to a school for drama ministry, and they had lunch at this site.

After lunch, they continued with drama ministry and went to the town square. Later in the afternoon, they will head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at the church. Later on, they will attend a conference at the church, where the team will do the "Everything" drama, and Bill King will be speaking.

After the conference, they will return to the hotel to get some rest and get ready for another full day tomorrow.

Please keep praying for the team as they are only five days away from coming home. We know that God will provide them with guidance, strength, and the courage to share the gospel with the people of Pomacochas!

Thank you all.

Pomacochas update! Tuesday, June 18

Good morning everyone,

Here is a quick update from Bill King on the team from Tuesday's events:

"We toured the lake this morning, enjoyed a fresh mountain trout for lunch, climbed Sanchez mountain before dinner, then conducted the evening conference with the Lima team.

Please pray for the conferences, as it seemed to be fiercely resisted on many fronts - weather, building, equipment, timing, coupled with some teammates feeling tired and drained."

Thank you all.

Tuesday, June 18-Update from Pomacochas!

Hey everyone,

Another update from Bill King:

"First morning in Pomacochas! The lake is beautiful, and we have been served breakfast by Doris and Soila, Santiago and Lichard. Our missions team has now doubled in size, as we have linked together with the believers from Lima who traveled with us. Please pray for strength and more opportunities!"

Thank you all!

Quick agenda for today Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Good morning everyone,

As I confirmed last night with Bill King, the team arrived safely to Pomacochas around 12:41 p.m. EST (11:41 p.m. Peru time). After a long journey, they will head out to breakfast this morning to the host church in this city, where they will have devotions, and a joint praise meeting.

Later in the morning, they will go on a hike to a location known as Hummingbirds. After, they will enjoy lunch with some exquisite and delicious trout, fresh from the small farm trout in the area. They will also take a boat ride in the lake and enjoy God's majesty and creation.

As the evening comes, they will head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at the church. After dinner, they will have a Conference to attend, where it is likely that there will be a small kick off ceremony (due to their late arrival last night, this is more likely to be pushed to today). They will do Spellbound during the conference, and Mary McLaurin will be speaking as well.

Please pray for strength as they are getting settled into this new environment and getting to meet new people. Pray that every person that they meet throughout the day will hear the good news of Jesus.

Thank you all.

Carlos Raul Salinas

Quick agenda for today Sunday, June 16, 2013.

Good morning everyone,

The team will have breakfast this morning, and depending on the load of the schedule, they might opt out to have it at the hotel since they have packed everything for their trip to Pomacochas, Peru. They will return to Lima next Saturday, June 22.

After breakfast and having already finish packing all their stuff for their adventure, they will head out to the church for the Sunday service. They will also have lunch at the church and then they will decide what will be next in their agenda. Some of the choices could be having some team time and preparation for their trip up north. They are also thinking on doing some drama ministry, possibly around the park by Metro (similar to a Walmart/Target). Regardless of which choice they take, it will be a very productive afternoon.

Then they will head back to the church for dinner and the missions conference will then start back up. The Team will be part of the closing ceremony with Spellbound. After finishing with the conference, they will change and depart to the bus station to travel somewhere around 21-22 hours up north, right almost at the center of Peru, where mountains and jungle meet. As the night comes, they will continue their travel in the bus and the adventure continues tomorrow Monday, June 17.

Let's pray for the team as they get ready to depart for Pomacochas. It is a long ride, and it can be very tiring to be in a bus for such long period of time. Let's pray for safety and comfort as they travel. Jesus has great plans ahead for the people of Pomacochas and I can't wait to hear all the stories as they return home. Let's also pray that as they help close the conference on missions, the people of San Juan de Lurigancho will see the need to take teams to other parts of Peru to bring the gift of salvation and hope!

Thank you all.

Quick agenda for today Saturday, June 15, 2013.

Good morning everyone,

The team will depart from the hotel and head out to breakfast, devotions, and worship time at the church this morning. Then, they will get ready to leave for a sports clinic, where they will do some drama ministry, plus incorporate sports such as soccer and volleyball. They will eat lunch at the site of their ministry and then head out to the Good Shepherd Orphanage.

Good Shepherd is located in Callao, Peru and CrossWave has been helping them in different ways, including sending a team to do some cleaning work, but mainly helping with their food needs. We also take teammates to the orphanage just to love on the kids and play with them. It is such an amazing and sweet time where we can pray for them and let them know how much God loves them.

If you are interested in more information on how to help this orphanage, please join our Facebook group. You can find more pictures about the work that CrossWave has done for the past years.

As they finish their visit at the orphanage, they will head out back to the hotel to change and get ready for dinner at the church. Mary McLaurin will again help with the "Women in Missions" workshop tonight. Then the team will spend some time together before heading back to the hotel to get some rest and great ready for a busy Sunday.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Last night, the conference went great at the church and God continues to do miracles in the lives of His people. Pray for strength for the team, as they are coming close to their 1 week in Peru.

Thank you.

Quick agenda for today Friday, June 14, 2013.

Good morning everyone,

Today, the team will depart from the hotel wearing their costumes already and head out to church for breakfast, devotions, and a small meeting. After they get their make up on, they will go out to the streets for drama ministry and then return to church where the Kenn Opperman School is located as well, as they continue with their ministry at the school.

After eating lunch, they will again head out to the streets for drama ministry and return to their hotel in the late afternoon to change and freshen up for another conference tonight at the church. They will dine at the church and then get ready for the conference. There will be two workshops: Mary McLaurin will lead the "Women in Missions" workshop, while Bill King will lead the "Trinity in Missions" workshop.

Many of our teammates will help with the childcare and also with the youth groups while the conference takes place. After the conference is over, they will return to their hotel and get some rest for an amazing weekend coming ahead!

Thank you all for praying! The team is doing really well and they have certainly seen God move! Many of those in the streets might have never really understood who Jesus is and now they can finally see the light of salvation!

Then, they will approach the Pacific ocean and hit Larcomar, a mall located right by the sea.

Last update for Wednesday, June 12, 2013-Bill's update

Hey guys,

This came in from Bill with some last comments from Wednesday's events:

Fabulous day! Glorious day! There must be hundreds of you praying around the clock for Gods work to go forth with His anointing. Don't stop now! Two outreaches at Innova School, then 2 afternoon outreaches on the street and a park (where a policeman came watched the entire drama), and a 5th outreach in a park that we had not used before. Check out the picture to see some of the fruit of this last place. Many tears, much prayer, and many people with new life in Christ. We serve an awesome God! The team is really coming together and we have met some wonderful people. Please pray that we remain faithful to the call and the message, and stay hydrated!

Quick update-June 11, 2013

Hello guys,

Here is a quick update from the team:

The team practiced Spellpound this morning after spending time with the Lord as a team. This afternoon, they unpacked and sorted 1500 pounds of supplies, which included medicines, sports equipment, bibles, and gifts that they will give away over the next two weeks.

The team is thankful for everyone's prayers! Let's keep praying for them, especially as they will be heading out for some street ministry this evening.

Thank you.

Quick agenda for today, June 11, 2013.

Hello guys,

Quick agenda for today June 11, 2013.

Today the team will be departing from their hotel in the morning heading out to the church for breakfast. At the church, they will also have their devotions and a time for worship during the morning. The team will meet for a meeting and get to organize all the materials they have brought from the U.S. for ministry in Lima, and Pomacochas.

After having lunch at the church in the early afternoon, they will have drama practice to get ready for ministry in the streets and churches. Around mid-afternoon, they will learn to get into costume and apply the wonderful makeup.

Later in the afternoon, they will spend time in prayer for the mission and head out to dinner in the church. As the early evening starts, they will go out to the streets for drama ministry. They will later return to their hotel and get ready for bed.

Please keep praying for the team as they start out in the first official day in Lima, Peru. We know that God will do some amazing miracles and work in the heart of each of our teammates and those who are awaiting to hear about Jesus.

Thank you all.

Arrived in Lima, Peru!

The team safely landed in Lima, Peru around 10:42 p.m. EST.

Hello Team,

As the team disembarks the plane, they will go through the building and get their passports stamped with their visas. Then, they'll head to the baggage claim area to pick up their suitcases. Now, it is after this part of the process that things get interesting. They will go through a section where they will need to press a button hoping to avoid the red light. If they get the green light, they can just walk out from the airport and off to their bus. However, the red light would mean that their luggage would have to inspected by the airport officials and scanners. Each individual has to press this button.

I'll ask you all to pray that this will be a smooth process for the team. Our hope is that they get as many green lights as possible. This could be a 2 hour process or more. Then they will be headed outside and to the buses to head out to the hotel.

I'll keep you guys updated with any news as they become available.

God is good!
